Applicability of MRP implementation aiming at optimizing organizational processes in a food service equipment company in the city of Guarulhos

Abstract

This study analyzes the feasibility of implementing a Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system in a medium-sized company in the food service equipment sector in Guarulhos. Given the challenges faced by the company, such as inefficient inventory control and delivery delays, the main objective is to evaluate the impacts of MRP implementation on optimizing the organizational processes of the supply chain. Utilizing both qualitative and quantitative approaches, the study consists of a literature review and a case study with simulation applied in Excel. The results obtained demonstrate that the introduction of MRP can bring significant benefits to the company, such as better inventory management, cost reduction, and greater efficiency in the supply chain. However, the successful implementation of this tool depends on the commitment of top management, continuous training, and proper management of the implementation process. It is concluded that adopting MRP can help make the company more competitive and efficient in the food service equipment market.
