Abstract

The present study aims to establish a prospective scenario of sustainable economic development contextualized to Revolution 4.0, having the support of Futurism to realize such projection. To this end, cross-analyzes were carried out based on bibliographies and surveys of international academic studies, with a view to synthesizing the main impacts that the Fourth Industrial Revolution will provide in the economic and social spheres. Exploratory, descriptive and qualitative, this research used Futures Wheel tool, developed by futurist Jerome Gleen, to elucidate the results obtained from the analysis that lists the positive impacts of the Revolution 4.0 for economic development, which include the reduction of costs in services and commercialization increased economic participation of disadvantaged populations, beneficial effects on the environment, and efficient use of public and private resources. Negative impacts may include compromising privacy and data security, risk of unemployment and employment obsolescence.
After the conclusions are made, guidelines are made for continuity of the line of research and
future studies.
